Why 30% DEET, Specifically
DEET-based repellents remain the most effective way to repel mosquitoes and ticks, and DEET concentration determines how long protection lasts — not how strong it is. A 20% DEET product provides roughly 4 hours of protection; 30% approaches 8 hours. Concentrations above 50% don’t meaningfully extend protection further, which is why 30% represents a practical sweet spot: strong, extended coverage without unnecessary chemical load.
